| what we have done
The first major project for The Hemingway Corporation was The Regeneration Project for Wandsworth Borough Council.
This multi-disciplinary project was aimed at equipping retailers in five of the borough’s towns to play their part in the regeneration of the shopping centres. The project was for the development, marketing and running of a programme of workshops and mentoring sessions to enhance the business skills of the shops’ managers, and to instil a learning culture into their businesses.
This project was judged to be the most successful of its kind, succeeding as it did in involving a wide range of businesses and yet providing mentoring support genuinely focussed on the needs of each individual shop and the care of their customers.
Our second major project customer’s 3,000 employees were attending serial IT courses that proved to be neither entirely appropriate nor cost-effective. They were also about to move from a Windows 3.11 environment to Office 2000 (the first such installation in the UK) which threatened further confusion. We are not an IT training company but we created a model used by many IT training companies today.
The library service in all parts of the county has undergone a transformational change. Our par in the project was to equip the librarians and their managers with the skills to make the new introduction of IT work for their customers.
This meant a detailed look at how the new service would look and feel and a commitment to changing the lives of the library customers. Librarians are focussed on the needs of their customer naturally. We had to enhance their skills and confidence at being able to answer questions and also enhance their ability to pre-empt the needs of their customers.
